New Kitchen Ware

We purchased a rice cooker and recreated one of the recipes included in the instruction manual for the cooker. This adventure was due to the intersection of two events: John reading a blog entry for one of our favorite restaurant critics, and our errand run to Target. I'd like to report that our first run last night was a success! Now the question is: should we award this appliance a permanent home on the kitchen counter?

At what age will Tobias realize his parents are slightly geeky?

Here's a tip for your rice cooker....when Tobias is old enough for some chunkier food (I think my kids were 9 months or so), cut up sweet potatoes and cook them with your rice. They get super tender and sweet. It is a very Hakka thing to do, but my kids love them that way and so do I (Andy isn't a big fan). You can also add a tish of salt to it before you cook it if you want. Joey gobbles the things up!!! Have fun with the rice cooker. We LOVE ours!!

Cool, thanks for the tip! I never suspected rice cookers were so versatile. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Can't wait to see you soon!

I dont think we are ever pronounced "geeky". I think around 6 or 7 is where they start to realize, hey my mom really doesn't know what she is talking about! Then around 28 or 29 they realize hey my mom really wasn't as stupid as I though!!! LOL

I just looked back at the photos from when you were in the hospital with Tobias. He sure has changed his looks already in 5 weeks! Isn't it amazing how fast those things happen?

Grandpa and Grandma, here at the McKinley Lodge, think Tobias looks adorable in that sailor suit!

We fly home tomorrow. bummer!

Mt McKinley is in the clouds so we haven't seen it yet. Oh well, we'll have to buy a good photo instead!
