A Bit Cracked

Sure, your first thought is that I've lost it and I'm referring to myself. I won't deny that the women taking care of T-bird at day care may have something to add here, but they'll have to do it on another blog. No, actually this pic was proof in my attempt to peel a hard boiled egg without peeling.

Thinking of day care though, I have successfully done 2 drop offs and 1 pick up and I only cried at the 1st drop off. These are but dress rehearsals for tomorrow's production of "You're Going Back to Work for Real".

Would someone at the office check to see if I have tissues at my desk?

Twelve Week Prowess

Over the last 12 weeks, I've successfully influenced expenditures, increased fiscal responsibility, and created connections in the neighborhood, community and beyond.

Plus, I make a great subject for the blog . . .

Grand Visitors

Last weekend John's parents and Grandma came for a visit. We had a grand time enjoying summer's last hurrah. Tobias loves joining the conversation as well as reading with Grandma!

Ahoy, Hoy

Check him out, holding up that melon!

We had a good week. The big looming cloud of where to send Tobias for daycare is dissipating since we've found a place we think will be a good fit. (If he didn't like to talk so much, I'd first try to smuggle him to work with me - I've got plenty of room under my desk for an activity mat.)

Also, I got a new phone. Ah, a phone that charges reliably, what a novel idea! There had been a few days I wondered if I could email 911 in case of an emergency.

Baby Steps

Realizing that I have 3 weeks until I return to full-time work outside the home, I decided I need ease my way into what I think life will be like.
Step One: Get dressed and showered (not necessarily in this order) before 10am. No problem, got it done by 8am today.
Step Two: Try to feed T-bird from a bottle during the hours I'll be at work. Also success, although funny thing is I can't use the same bottle John uses.
Step Three: Begin thinking about work. Ok, I checked work email and whoa baby, I'll move this task to step 27 or something.
Step Four: Reward yourself with a pastry from Panera. Done and done.

I also realized that I haven't been away from this little cutie for more than a 2 hour stretch. I think this calls for a date night and a babysitter. Maybe step 15ish . . . after a few more pastries.

Big News!

Tobias is going to have a new Auntie!
Congratulations CJ and Jen on your engagement. I am so happy to have you, Jen, as a sister-in-law!

This is the standard pose for showing off the engagement ring . . .

First Trip to ND and other 2mo. Adventures

Our usual 8 hour drive to ND was only extended by a couple of hours; T-bird is a traveling pro. (Although this blog posting is taking even longer than that). Here are some pics from our time.

Two Bells

We are in North Dakota with my (Sara's) parents on a wonderful get-away from the cities. What a great place to ring in 2 months with Tobias in our lives! Pics are on the way.
