Goodbye to an Old Friend

After much encouragement from my beautiful wife, as well as everyone else who saw at it, I finally decided it was time to retire my winter coat.
Some stats from the lifetime of my old friend:
Winters: 15 - 1994- 2009
States gone skiing: 7 -MN, CO, ND, MO, WA, UT, Manitoba (I know, not quite a state)
Basketball games worn to: 300-450
Times washed: 3?
Windshields scraped: Too many to count

You know, there is an opera where the famous male solo is the guy singing goodbye to his old friend - his trench coat - and most folks in the audience are enraptured with the music and totally don't know that it is supposed to be humorous. I thought of that song when I saw your pictures! Good bye old friend!

It's a shame the old coat couldn't make it to the Northshore one last time...

Out with the old, on with the new. Can't wait to see the new purchase!! I'm not much for sentimentality. And what's with the post without a pic of Tobias????? I need a fix!

So let's see a picture of the new coat!?!....And as I fellow Montana Skier....I just wanted to clarify that Montana is with an MT - Eric and I were pretty sure that's what you meant and not Missouri.....

Now this is funny... I seriously thought last time I saw you... "wow, he's still got that coat going strong." (Nicole recently retired her coat from the mid 90's as well.) Little did I know that its useful life was to come to an abrubt end - job well done.

First Skippy dies and I don't get to say goodbye! And now you just throw this trusted companion that has accompanied us on so many adventures in the trash without even giving me a chance to give my farewells?!

What's next?! Are you planning on getting rid of Adam too?! He's beginning to look a little worn out around the edges. Well I'd better take my chance now. It's been great Adam!

Seriously, that coat needed to go. Well done.

Candis, I thought of that same opera.

I remember this coat as well. It's been a while since I've seen you, so I had no idea it was still around!

Good job giving up such an old friend. I'm sure it's been an emotional time for you! Hopefully these last few days have been okay and you feel like you're surviving...
