I once had a roommate who had the same belief that I have -if it doesn't have visible mold, it's probably okay. But, I don't know if that's the best advice... I once made Rice Krispie bars with some friends and we broke the knife cutting them. I think it was the stale marshmallows...

Well, we found out over Christmas that out-dated corn meal makes stale tasting corn muffins....
I finally threw out spices that I had moved from New York to Saskatchewan to Fergus Falls... (you never know when you need "poultry seasoning")..
